  7. Today, I could identify the liver, small/large intestines, gall bladder, peritoneal membrane, stomach (harder to find though), spleen, pancreas (also hard to find), and the kidneys. The liver was across the chest and looked/felt floppy. The Small Intestine was very long and scrunched in a ball next to the large intestine. The Large Intestine was next to the small intestine and was very short. The gall bladder looked light brownish and very small on the back of the liver. The Peritoneal Membrane felt slimy and protected the inside of the pig. The stomach was very hard to find and was kind of gross. It was a half-full, tiny balloon. The Spleen was very easy to find and looked like a flat balloon. The Pancreas was white/light brown and looked like a bunch of glued together grain pieces. Last but not least, Tanner and I found the Kidneys. They were under the large/small intestines and looked as if they were imbedded into the back of the pig. This dissection was cool and I can't wait for tomorrows dissection!

  10. We found the gall bladder, both of the intestines, the liver, the stomach, the pancreas, and the spleen. The stomach stores food. The small intestine responsible for most chemical digestion and absorption of nutrients. The large intestines receives the liquid waste products of digestion, reabsorbs water and minerals, and forms and stores feces for defecation. The spleen produces, stores, and eliminates blood cells. The liver filters out poisons and drugs out of the blood stream. The gall bladder stores bile and releases it as needed into the small intestine. The pancreas produces the hormones that regulate blood sugar, produces enzymes that break down carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids.
