What an amazing group of 7th and 8th graders we have this year! It is so fantastic that there are so many of you that we need 2 classes! In today's activity, the Nature of Science, what did the small square represent and how did it affect your original shape? How is that similar to when, as scientists, we discover new information?
Hello my wonderful students!!! Listen closely...are you listening??? This is your science teacher Ms. Yates. I know, I know. I just saw you a few hours ago. Remember the awesome reminders, updates, and fantasticness that I promised you?? It is here. Yep!! Right here. Remember to check it out daily. The rewards will be worth your time. Assignments that you forgot about or were absent for? Here!! Notes you may have missed?? Here too!!! Announcements?? Yep!! And, fantastic reminders of all the cool stuff we did today...All here and more!! See you tomorrow. Or Monday, if you are so awesome that you are reading this over the weekend.
This assignment was hard!!!!! it was hard to make a square with all those random pieces of paper. it was fun though. the science room looks so much better! everything is amazing

This assignment was very challenging!!! The square changed everything scientists would have to learn how to fit that new discovery in to what they already had. Scientists use what they learn to find more great new things!!!

It represented diffrent shapes comineded to make a new shape.Well when scientist put diffrent medicince in and comined more it make the madicine that we have today.

ReplyDeleteIt affected our original shape because it made it bigger and it was harder to make the pieces a shape. It is smular because when scientists put things together it is usually for a good cause like for finding a cure for a disease.
The small square represented new information. When you gave us the small square it made it harder because we had to figure out how all of the pieces could fit together and make the square. It is similar to when scientists find new information because when scientists get new information they have to figure out how that could be put in to what they have already figured out it is like a puzzle. And the science room is absolutely amazing!!!!!

the small square represented the add on knoledge to the orringinal shapes in the square. if you think you know the facts and theorys and then you find new facts and create new theories, then you have to re-arrange the facts and re-create the theories.

Hello this is tanner, the project we did today was really difficult and interesting. The small square represented another part of nature that was thrown in, It affected my original shape because i had to start over re arrange the object again. This is smilier to how scientist discover new information because they have to go back and put it all back together with a new variable.
ReplyDeleteWe tried so many different arrangements but we just couldn't figure it out!!! This assignment was still fun, and the classroom looks great!!!

we had to figure out a new way to organize it into a square. 2. it is similar because we have to figure it out and they do to.
ReplyDeletescience rocks
lol
Maddie :) :) lol
This was a great assignment! It was really surprising how hard it was to put a square together that has been cut up. Then when we thought we had it, you told us there was another piece missing that you hadn't given us yet.
ReplyDeleteThis was was a fun project but it was hard i had a great time if it would have been easier to do!! XD lol

The small square affected the original shape by almost making it a complete square. When we revised the shape and used it in our original shape we were able to gain new information.

At first all of us "scientists" thought that we had all the "information" (shapes from the square) we needed to figure out the "problem/outcome" (square). We were trying to put the pieces together and right when we were almost getting to the "solution" "we found" (you gave us) a new piece of "information" (small square) to add to find the "answer" (full square).

The first puzzle you gave us was the previous knowledge you had. When you added the square you added new information. When you added the square it made it harder to fit everything. Once we figure out how to make the whole square we have solved the answer. Awesome project.

The small square represented as a new discovery. Without the small square we could of never figured out to make a six by six square.
