Taking Flight

Analysis Questions

1. What adaptations did you make to your paper airplane over the course of the 3 trials? What was the affect on the distance achieved by your airplane?
2. Did wing size affect the distance a paper airplane traveled?
3. How would weight of your paper airplane affect the distance?
4. How would density affect the distance?
5. What environmental factors did you face in flying your paper airplane?
6. What gave your plane its forward motion?

  2. I loved this so much because i got to experiment with different paper airplanes. It was so fun although my failed horribly.

  3. Funny thing...
At the end of the experiment, I threw my glide plane in a fashion in which you would throw a dart plane and it totally flew. I had to try that AFTER the experiment was done...

  4. I enjoyed experimenting with different paper air planes, and the coolest part was that you had a chance to learn from other peoples mistakes. I learned a lot about how density and wing spans change how the paper air plane moves. For example, having bigger/wider wings makes the paper air plane glide farther, there for you must throw it at an angle, so when it levels out it has room to slowly float through the air. But, having thin, long wings will make the paper air plane dart through the air with more speed, and a horizontal path to the ground.
