Banana DNA

Why did we add each solution to the banana?  Describe what the DNA looked like.  Do you think it would differ in appearance if we used a different fruit?  Why/why not?

  1. The solution broke apart the cell down to its DNA. The DNA looked like a big snot blob or slug slime. I thinked it would have looked different because its different DNA.

  2. We added each solution because that's how we got the DNA. The DNA looked kind of like a cloud color. It was a blob of white and gushy stuff. It was really cool. No I don't think that it would differ if you used the same ingredients. If we used different ingredients i think it would differ. I would like to see if I was incorrect about my theory. We should try it with different foods.

  3. We put separate solutions into the mushed banana to slowly start breaking away the cell parts that cover the DNA. The DNA from the banana looked like white mucus or, a small jellyfish. I do think that the DNA would look different if it was from another fruit. I think this because DNA is what creates something, so a banana is yellowish/white and it is soft. If we were to do the same thing with a strawberry, I think the DNA would look red or pinkish. This was a cool experiment. I liked how the DNA started to rise and I said, "Rise my pretty. Rise." :)
    P.S.My kitten is gnawing on my computer right now.

  4. We all put in the solutions to break down the cell so we could get the DNA inside. My groups looked very whitish and sandy, could also see the strings. Also i think it would look different because and plants/animals have different DNA. That would be really cool to look into!! >:] >::::)

  5. We added it so we could reak down the cell. To get to the DNA. Throught the microscope it looked like noodles in spagetti sauce. Yes because it will look diffrent DNA which means that there might be a chance of it being diffrent. YYYYYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  6. We added detergent, buffer, and ethanol. The DNA looked like whitish mucus. It could be a different color in different fruits because of the color of the fruit.

    We added the solutions so we could break through the different layers of the cell without damaging the DNA. To me, at first the DNA looked like when bubbles from your soda floats to the top of a drink. Then after a while, it started looking like the company didn't use the right ingredients so the bubbles squished together to make a whitish mucus substance which didn't look very appetizing. The color might differ depending on the color of the fruit cells.

    We added the solution to break down the cell wall membrane and nucleolus. It looked like a ball of mucous. I think it would look different color wise for other things like strawberries.

    We put detergent,buffer solution and ethanol into the banana. The DNA looked like white mucus. If I used different fruits the density of the end result might change.
