Lady Larvae Day 14

How has your larvae changed over the course of the past few weeks?  Make a prediction for how many days it will take for our painted lady butterflies to emerge.

  1. In science, almost all of our class's larvae is starting to cocoon! Also most of them are starting to slow down or lower their speed.

  2. Over time I've seen the larvae grow, become less curious, more tired, and my larvae is starting to cocoon. I think it'll will take about 3-4 days for the butterflies to emerge.

  3. I have observed that my larvae has grown and started to make its cocoon. It has eaten most of its food and now has left the food to dry up. I predict it will take about 5 days to transform into a butterfly.

  4. I noticed that they gone from the second stage of a Painted Lady Larvae to the third stage of a Painted Lady Larvae.

  5. It takes at least 2-3 weeks to for a butterfly to get to the 2 stage too the 3 stage.

  6. My larvae got about 10 times bigger! My larvae is now a cocoon. I estimate the cocoon will take 14 days to turn into a butterfly.

  8. My larvae has changed from a tiny, small caterpillar to a big fat one. Now it is in the chrysalis. I think in a week, my larvae will be a butterfly.

  9. Over the past few weeks, my larvae is now cacooning. I think that it would take 10 or 12 days or less.

    My larvae grew fatter, hairier, slower, and looks like he is ready to cocoon.

  11. My larvae has changed over the past few weeks because it is now about 5 1/2 cen. long. About 3 1/2 of the food is gone and I see that the cup has more silk and scat(poop) than before. I predict that it will take about 2-3 more days for our painted-lady butterflies to emerge.

    I think my larvae has changed very little because it is only 2 cm. long. I predict it will be about 2 weeks for mine but for the rest of the class about 1-3 days.

  16. I think it will take them 15-20 days to emerge. my painted lady larvae is now green, black, and yellow also when we were at shady creek they grew a lot.

  17. My larvae has changed from a small larvae to a matured cocoon in the last couple weeks. I predict I'll have a butterfly 2 Mondays from now. Jackson B.

  18. My larvae has changed from a tiny caterpillar to a big hairy caterpillar with green stripes to a green cocoon with a small dead skin hanging off. I predict it will take about 4 days the butterfly to emerge.

  20. Over the past few weeks my larvae has been getting fatter. This week it went into it's cocoon. I predict that it will take about 2 weeks for it to become a butterfly.

  21. My larve has changed because he has grown bigger and hairy, it had made a big silk web, and most of his food is gone.I Predict the butterfly will emerge in 3-4 days.

  22. My larvae has changed because it grew 1 cm so it is now 3cm. Most of the food is gone and my larvae left some scat. It is now pupating, and it is turning green. I think it will take 4-5 days for my larvae to emerge.

  24. They are in cocoons and they're not moving or eating. My larvae is not green yet, but it is definitely bigger. I think it will take a whole week or more.
