Comment 300!!! Will it be you???
Hello my amazing, fantastic students!!! I mentioned that we are approaching 300 comments and 3400 page views, all ready, in only 6 weeks of school...amazing!! If you are the 300th comment and it tells me something relevant to your class material, such as something that you learned or a reflection of a lab, you...will...receive a prize!!!

ReplyDeletei love science i most love of all labs we did was red worms
Nicole,
ReplyDeleteAre you allowed to tell me when it reaches 299 comments? *Hint Hint* Anyways today we refreshed our memories on the labs we had previously done, such as...
In the Boyles lab we put a marshmallow in a syringe and pushed the top in and out. Due to the air in the marshmallow, the marshmallow shrunk and grew based on the pressure. What is Boyles law though? Boyles law says that if temperature is held constant and if pressure decreases, then volume will increase and vice versa. The formula for this is V1 x P1 = V2 x P2.
For the Charles Law Lab we put a balloon in the freezer and solar oven. We got to make a solar oven out of foil, and a box. The balloons grew so big they popped, inside of the solar oven! This also makes since because of Charles Law. Charles Laws states that if pressure is held constant and if temperature increases so will the volume. The formula for this is T1/V1= T2/V2.
Another lab we did was the Endo and Exothermic RxN (reaction) Lab. For this lab we mixed different ingredients like baking soda and vinegar and based on observation concluded whether it was endothermic or exothermic. A exothermic reaction gives off heat. A endothermic reaction radiates in coldness.
Finally the last lab we did was the Boiling Water Syringe Lab. In this lab we put hot water in a syringe and capped it. Next we pulled the plunger backwards. It got so hot and boiling. But why? This is because less pressure equals a lower boiling point temperature. For example, Denver water boils at a 95C.
These are all the different labs we did. Hope I am the 300 person. :)
Nicole!! What a fabulously detailed comment, encompassing every lab we have done in the last 2 1/2 weeks!!! You are not the 300th comment, but you will be the winner of the best chapter summarizing comment to date...GREAT JOB!!! As you know, I usually say, "SCIENCE ROCKS", but today I will say, "NICOLE ROCKS!!!"
